Art therapy for teenagers

make, create, play, heal

Art therapy offers teens the time and space to explore the self and engage in self-reflection all whilst highlighting some effective coping techniques to help them navigate this time of great transition and change.

Our gorgeous teenagers and young people have so much going on right now – physical changes, emotional dysregulation, social pressures, academic pressures, parental expectations, not to mention the all-important journey of self-discovery and identity.

Verbal language is only one way of communicating and this isn’t always the easiest way for our children and young people to work through their troubles and creative arts therapy is the best at acknowledging that.

Creating art in a safe and supportive environment allows teenagers to explore their thoughts and feelings in a non-threatening way to discover both their inner and outer resources with the hope of helping them feel happier and healthier. Poetry, painting, drawing, mixed-media collage, songwriting, sculpting and visual journalling are just a few of the creative outlets that can encourage our teenagers to reflect, share thoughts, process emotions, express themselves authentically, and emerge with a stronger sense of self.
